Food: Day 1

I did not post my thoughts on Day 1 yesterday because by the end of the day I had an inevitable caffeine headache from not drinking my daily cup of Joe (and tea and soda and...). If I had written anything in that state of mind, I may have regretted what I said.

My 7 chosen foods are...
-eggs
-hummus
-bananas
-whole grain bread
- carrots
-spinach
-avocados
If you're wondering why I didn't just put coffe on my list as Dawn did, it's because I didn't want to waste a spot with an unfilling drink, and since I wouldn't be able to use creamer in it, there was no point.

I wish I could say my first day was easy, enlightening, and convinced me that this next week will be worth all the bananas in the world (which I feel like I've already eaten). But it wasn't, and it didnt.  Every time I cut up fresh fruit for my 14 month old, my mouth watered. (I love fruit!) When I opened up the coffee cabinet, I took a moment to inhale its addictive aroma before walking away reluctantly.  I was at a loss how to make eggs, spinach, and bananas more exciting.

But I survived.  And I was actually able to look past my own minor discomfort and consider those in America and around the world who struggle with hunger day in and day out.  My light and momentary troubles cannot compare to those who don't know where their next meal is coming from.
Thank You, Lord,  for the many blessings you provide for me every day.  Through this week, help me relearn to be grateful and not take my resources for granted. Amen.
